Griffonia Seeds




Common name : Griffonia
Latin name : Griffonia simplicifolia 
Botanical family : Leguminosae
Botanical description : Stout, woody, climbing shrub growing to about 3 meters high with greenish flowers and inflated black pods

Colour : Pale brown crystal
Origin : Occurs mainly in West-Central Africa 
Properties : It alleviates the effects of a variety of conditions, including depression, anxiety, insomnia and obesity.
Griffonia is a botanical source of 5-HTP, a precursor to the neurotransmitter, serotonin, which promotes restful sleep and balanced moods. It has been found that decreased levels of the hormone, serotonin, are associated with depression, insomnia, obsessive/compulsive disorders, and eating disorders that lead to obesity or bulimia. 
The bark of Griffonia is said to have antiseptic properties.
