Griffonia is a botanical source of 5-HTP, a precursor to the
neurotransmitter, serotonin, which promotes restful sleep and balanced moods.
It has been found that decreased levels of the hormone, serotonin, are
associated with depression, insomnia, obsessive/compulsive disorders, and
eating disorders that lead to obesity or bulimia.
The bark of Griffonia is said to have antiseptic
properties.
